Frequently Asked Questions
What will my first visit be like?
|
You should plan to arrive at our clinic about 15 minutes prior to your session, giving you enough time to complete your paperwork. You will need your prescription for physical therapy from your primary physician or surgeon and your insurance card. It would also be beneficial to bring your current medication list.
Next, you will be evaluated by your physical therapist. He or she will ask you questions about your medical history, your current physical health, and why you were sent to physical therapy. Your therapist may perform several different tests, such as range of motion measurements, muscle strength tests, neurological screenings, or a manual check around the area of injury or pain, to help with the assessment. |
What should I wear?
|
Loose-fitting clothes that are easy for you to move in and tennis or running shoes. If you are being seen for a knee issue, it is best to wear shorts. For shoulders, you should wear a tank top. We have a changing room available if you need to change prior to your session.
|
How many days a week do will I come for therapy?
And for how long? |
Every person is different, and every injury requires a different approach. Some patients will only need a few weeks of therapy, and some will require several months. When you are initially evaluated by your physical therapist, he or she will come up with a plan that works with you and your schedule.
